Co-workers to Collaborating

Capturing a maternity shoot on top of a mountain is always romantic. But when the couple is someone you have worked with in the past, there is an extra level of gratitude that comes with the overall experience. Mary was someone I met when I first moved out to Colorado in 2018. She worked at the same company I did and trusted me to take her engagement photos which was extremely humbling. Mary knew at the time I was still a newer photographer (only having about a year of experience under my belt) and welcomed any and all experience I could get.

So Good to See You Again

It was May of this year when Mary reached out to me on Instagram. She told me she was 34 weeks pregnant and looking to get some maternity photos done. I was over the moon when I heard the news! It was so long since we had seen each other so to reconnect was more then welcomed.

We went to a recently newfound favorite location that is only 45 minutes from the city of Denver - Mount Falcon. This location really has the best of what Colorado has to offer. You will find a mix of green pines and rocky terrain. You cannot ignore the rolling mountains that go for miles in almost all directions or the open field of grass and small wildflowers.

A Day to Remember

When the forecast calls for 44% chance of rain, you know you are about to get beautiful skies. I have always really enjoyed shooting in cloudy conditions and this photoshoot is a testament to why. We were able to get rich and vibrant colors throughout, a soft breeze that gave a very natural movement to the photos, and two people who are so in love and excited to be starting their family. This is truly why I love what I do. Capturing moments that people will look back on for the rest of their lives. When photographing and editing a maternity photoshoot, it is extremely important for me to achieve a clean and timeless look. Something that will withstand generations and editing fads. To freeze time as it truly is so every time you look at the photos you remember feeling of the cool freeze on your skin and the smell of rain in the air. Most importantly, to remember how happy you felt in that moment.
